Writing competition designed to encourage students to learn about the industries and job requirements of their dream careers as well as reflect on how they can attain their career goals.

Each student will write an essay (2,000 words limit) which discusses their dream careers, how their skills or characteristics are a match the typical job skill requirements, and the path to attaining a job in the career. This event will encourage students to research the details of their desired careers and the relevant sectors/industries. It will also serve as a reflective exercise for students to take an analytical approach to understanding their own skills and goals relative to their goal. Students to submit their entries for the Creative or Assessment category (competitors must choose to participate in only one category per school year).

Applying A Framework

Our Career Process is the starting point for students when they participate in IMAGINECareer. They will apply each of the seven steps and return each step as necessary throughout the course of writing their essays. By approaching this competition through this lens, students will develop a better understanding of their own career interests as well as what a job within their selected career field entails.

Career Goal Reflection

Students will research and learn about their dream careers as well as analyze the requirements of attaining their goals; this will help students better understand the path towards achieving their goals.

 

Entries compete within the following Event Divisions:

Early ( 3 - 5 Grades )

Intermediate ( 6 - 8 Grades )

Advanced ( 9 - 12 Grades )
